Below are the candidates for the three board positions for USA Boccia.  At the Annual Meeting on June 30th members will be casting a vote for one athlete board member and two board members.  Members will receive their ballot at the annual meeting to cast their vote for the open board positions.

My long time involvement in the sport and the passion that I have to take it to the next level.

I have over 25 years of experience in disabled sports on all levels.  I spent over 10 years within in the International Paralympic Committee in different roles and responsibilities.  I still coach at the local level as well

I have served as chair of the Fundraising committee for several years. I understand the financial needs of USA Boccia and what we need to do to meet those needs.

Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region, Augmentative and Alternative Communication Mentor  (2011-present)

Key Responsibilities: Developed and is in the process of implementing a mentor program designed to assist of youths who use adaptive communication devices in real-world situations.   Prepared grant application which funded the program.  Created a questionnaire based upon certain criteria regarding self-efficacy to select appropriate clients.  Defining clear goals and objectives for each client through consulting with them and their therapy team.  Facilitating goals and objectives with clients outside of therapy sessions.

Why are you interested in serving as a Board Director for USA Boccia?

I am excited to help expand the great sport of Boccia, and believe that having a strong and diverse base is the best way to enhance our sport.

How do you feel the USA Boccia membership and Board would benefit from your involvement on the Board?

The Membership and Board would benefit from my unique aad various experiences in the sport of Boccia.  I understand the perspectives of the athlete, coach, administrator, and fan, and how they can work together to enhance and promote our sport.

Please share any other information you feel is important in considering your application to serve as a USA Boccia Board Director : In many civil rights causes, sport has been an incredibly powerful and equalizing platform for minority groups to demonstrate their work ethic, dignity, and humanity.  I believe sport can also be a voice for persons with disabilities.

Why are you interested in serving as a Board Director for USA Boccia?

I would be interested in serving on the USA Boccia Board in order to help the organization build a business model geared toward collective fundraising fueled by corporate sponsorship. My hope is that such a model would alleviate –if not altogether eradicate–the financial burdens that come with being a USA Boccia athlete traveling at the international level.

How do you feel the USA Boccia membership and Board would benefit from your involvement on the Board?

I feel I would provide the Board with a unique combination of perspectives as someone who is accustomed to working in nonprofit management settings and who is a current USA Boccia athlete.

Please list any groups, organizations or businesses with whom you could serve as a liaison on behalf of USA Boccia: Variety Children’s Charity, which is an international chapter-based network serving children and families with special needs (could be an avenue for partnership in launching youth development initiatives nationwide).

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan (could be a good source/destination for new programs and athletes)

The University of Illinois (I have discussed the idea/potential of adding boccia to the university’s existing Paralympic Training Center footprint with the university’s Director of Disability Resources and Education Services Directior, my friend, Pat Malik.
